If you want extra piece of mind - buying an external hard drive dock/duplicator and an extra disk for "clones" would be a good idea as well. Personally, I would never put all my eggs in one basket when it comes to my important data. Having a working product that meets your needs is the most important aspect. If you like the product though and it works for you, go for it. Also, they do not support previous versions - they lock the forum after a year so you won't even get user support like you do with Acronis. The paid version adds these features but is not without issues either - check their forums.

The free version does not do incrementals, has no encryption, cannot do file/folder backup or recovery (only full disk/paritions), has no support and does not allow for dissimilar hardware restore.

Macrium Free doesn't give you a lot of the features that the paid version of that product does so you'd be spending a minimum of $80 for a single license if you need them. Remember the "grass is always greener" though. If Acronis isn't working for you and you prefer another product, I'd say use what works best for you.
So the fix is their, but it is a work-a-round since this issue is hard to produce and not a normal scenario with cloning and/or restoring images in most instances. The work-a-round was mentined earlier by Enchantec (dont' restore the MBR and track 0 partition during recovery - meaning you'd have to take a full system image and restore it instead of a clone - even with the cloning process, Acronis recommends taking a full disk image first - just in case).

I would try running Apple Diagnostics by holding D while booting from a powered off state to see if you can get a diagnostic code however, chances are you're going to have to take/send it in for service.Ī battery, generally, will not cause issues like this because it doesn't dump "raw" power directly from the battery to the logic board. The flickering can be caused by a number of things like a logic board issue, a faulty connector, a bad LCD, etc. From 2013 on, you'll have to replace the top case because Apple glues them in, but the battery can be replaced quite inexpensively. You've already diagnosed it - 950 cycles and the service battery indicator pretty much says it all.
